Trojan in DotaKeys !

If you are an avid fan of DotA AllStars, you'd probably know that farming is one of the most important parts of the game, other than pwning other heroes' heads. But farming is difficult for newbies. I hit upon this software called "DotaKeys" made by a guy who called himself "Fucko". I didnt have any problem with this guy, until I updated his software. The software downloads a backdoor trojan which might compromise your computers' security to this guys whims. I googled the problem and I came upon this post. Here, this "Fucko" dude goes about bashing anyone who tells him hes given them a program with a trojan.

He argues its open source, and even provides a link for its source. SURE its open source, who denied it!! All Im saying is that the program itself doesnt contain malicious trojans. These appear once you update the program.

And just for all of you people who are thinking how he made this program, there is a software called Autohotkey. A pretty nifty program that has its own language, a compiler, and what not, all under 2 MB !

Im working on an alternative to this program, and am going to release it maybe by this months' end. Thanks as always for a patient read

This is Why piracy is rampant :

I have heard the DMC (Digital Millenium Copyright) act didnt get on well with the pirates of cyberspace. Piracy is rampant throught the world right now, and worse, people dont even know they are involved. People think that there are no "legitimate" softwares and that every copy of windows comes for free. Maybe in western countries such as the United States, there is an awareness and a prosecution to take care of extreme cases, but in eastern countries such as India, Malaysiya, and pakistan, there are absolutely No anti piracy laws in place. This ensures that cybercrime is limited to duping people as in siphoning off funds from others' bank accounts. Its only such activities that are considered a crime. Piracy?? hell, even government employees use pirated software/operating systems, because the government outsources the work to private companies, and they being private companies would want to save a few bucks here and there, and would install the same copy of the OS on multiple systems with the same product key. Unless its an open source OS, ( A rare case these days, cause everyone is addicted to WINDOWS) its a crime. Even crime cells use the same method.

Adding to that is the notion that being bad is actually good! Yes, its like going up to ones' girlfriend and telling her you robbed a bank, in which case she would try to get away from you as soon as possible, and report to the police and later testify against you in court or whatever. But this is different. When you tell somebody you are into software piracy, the listener actually starts looking upto you, as if you are some uber geek persona. So, there are a lot of posers out there, and some really talented programmers who are on the wrong side. Some of them that are noticable are :

> CORE : Challenge of reverse engineering

These guys are living legends. These guys came to the scene at a time when reverse engineering was the field of uber geeks, thats not to say these guys arent!

> Deviance

Another group which is very good at releasing cracked unreleased games! Yes, sometimes you will find a game on the pirate bay that you havent ever heard of. You try to get a proper review of the game before downloading it, but Google doesnt seem to have a clue! You download the game, and the next month when youre watching TV, this games' trailer is being shown! WTF?!

> Dopeman

Does this guy need an introduction? If you are a regular to the bay, you'll know him!

> AxxO

An article on piracy is never complete without a mention of this guys' name. Another living legend in the movie piracy circuit.
I personally dont blame people for downloading crap off the internet, but I really do encourage them to pay for the software they use, maybe its a small amount, but developers need it to continue their work... Atleast thats MY perspective!!

Cracking Fiiles tihe easiy way

1) Don't try to modify a prog by editing his source in a dissasembler.Why?
Couse that's for programmers and assembly experts only. If any of you dumb kids
try to view it in hex you'll only get tons of crap you don't understand.
First off, you need Resource Hacker(last version).It's a resource editor-
very easy to use.

Resource Hacker Version 3.4.0
CODE
http://delphi.icm.edu.pl/ftp/tools/ResHack.zip/

Help File
CODE
http://www.users.on.net/johnson/resourceha...eshack_hlp.zip/

2)Unzip the archive, and run ResHacker.exe. You can check out the help file too,
if you want to be a guru.

3)You will see that the interface is simple and clean. Go to the menu File\Open or
press Ctrl+O to open a file. Browse your way to the file you would like to edit.
You can edit *.exe, *.dll, *.ocx, *.scr and *.cpl files, but this tutorial is ment
to teach you how to edit *.exe files, so open one.

4)In the left side of the screen a list of sections will appear.
The most common sections are: -Icon;
-String table;
-RCData;
-Dialog;
-Cursor group;
-Bitmap;
-WAV.
*Icon: You can wiew and change the icon(s) of the program by double-clicking the icon section,chossing the icon, right-clicking on it an pressing "replace resource". After that you can choose the icon you want to replace the original with.
*String table: a bunch of crap, useful sometimes, basic programming knowladge needed.
*RCData: Here the real hacking begins. Modify window titles, buttons, text, and lots more!
*Dialog:Here you can modify the messages or dialogs that appear in a program. Don't forget
to press "Compile" when you're done!
*Cursor group: Change the mouse cursors used in the program just like you would change the icon.
*Bitmap: View or change images in the programs easy!
*WAV:Change the sounds in the prog. with your own.

5) In the RCData,Dialog,Menu and String table sections you can do a lot of changes. You can
modify or translate the text change links, change buttons, etc.

TIP: To change a window title, search for something like: CAPTION "edit this".
TIP: After all operations press the "Compile Script" button, and when you're done editing save
your work @ File\Save(Save as).
TIP: When you save a file,the original file will be backed up by default and renamed to Name_original and the saved
file will have the normal name of the changed prog.
TIP: Sometimes you may get a message like: "This program has a non-standard resource layout... it has probably been compressed with an .EXE compressor." That means that Resource Hacker can't modify it becouse of it's structure.

Remember! This is only a small example of what you can do to executables with Resource Hacker.

Rapidshare VS BitTorrent, p2p

There are a lot of us, who are looking for free stuff, in the form of movies, games, and what not! Its a common misconception that the best content is available on rapidshare. In reality, you couldn't be farther away from truth. Sure, you could find the DVD rip of the latest 20th century fox release, but is the price you pay really worth it? I THINK NOT!!

In contrast, p2p is a pirates' heaven provided the wealth of content, and diversity. You get content straight from someone else's PC and whats more, you get bandwidth ripping speeds all at no cost! p2p is the holy grail for any pirate. It has proved its worth more than once.

Factor Rapidshare p2p
Usage Cost $9 per month FREE! on most sites. If you're paying, you're being ripped off!

Speed Full Bandwidth utilized Full Bandwidth utilized only with lots of seeders.

diversity Minimum. There are just a few uploaders and a lot of leechers. Maximum diversity.Anyone can upload and anyone can download.

Tweaking None. Lots of tinkering with the client, so that maximum speed is obtained.

Others opinions on the files being shared Opinions can only be expressed on forums. Opinions ranging from Quality of the upload to download speeds can be found along with the torrent.

Deletion The RIAA writes a letter to Rapidshare and off the movie goes! Bring on everything you got you maggots! Neither the government nor Bill Gates' lackeys can do anything about the files being shared.

Pirates of Cyberspace: An end to the worlds intellectual property rights

Harr!!

In ancient Babylon, lived a king, whose only dream was to gather all the books of knowledge from all around the world. And to his subject's amazement, he did! But in a great fire, alas, all his books were lost. This is what happens when knowledge is segregated.

We couldn't care less if Google updated its logo, or if Microsoft changed their name. The price they're putting on the knowledge they possess is far too great for any one man to afford. For, such knowledge is simply price-less!! I do believe that if given an opportunity each and every human can contribute to the answers. Considering human population, it should be worth the gamble.

Piracy is not just regarded as a form of theft anymore.Its more than that, its a religion. We pirates are nothing more than men and women fighting for free knowledge. A feeling we have all begun to love and cherish. We are people who believe all knowledge must be free. It is the way all great civilizations have grown in the past.

We have some legends amongst us too. "aXXo", "dopeman", "toed - The one eyed dude" , "LOL" just to name a few. We look upto these people not because they give us free stuff, but because of their strength and resilience to persist at what theyre doing in spite of the FCAA breathing down their necks!

The word "Piracy" got a new meaning when "The Pirate Bay" went online. They had their fair share of "corporate giants", such as "EA" trying to put them out of business. The site was down a couple of times. But, in the end, "The Pirates" stood tall, among people who knew nothing but to manipulate the world to their own selfish needs. THESE are the people who make pirates. These are the living legends all humanity must be thankful to.

Well, thats my argument anyway. You could consider the above, or you could just say we're a bunch of stingy leprechauns. Say what you may,but you still cant stop us, and thats the way its gonna be! Anarchy?

I rest my case...
